PROJECT PLAN
Project Need
Our project will be to host a retreat for women at our school. The retreat will have a focus on healthy relationships and leadership skills. The retreat will host various orgs and women in Leadership to create a networking system between them at the women at our schools. The hope is that by collaborating and building knowledge, women at our school feel empowered to uplift one another and take on more of a role both at our school and in the great Los Angeles area. The healthy relationships portion of the retreat will be essential since we have seen a great increase in issues between women at our school. There will be focus on emotional awareness, building trust and learning to have healthy confrontation.
The second part of our retreat will be the focus on leadership. Some women in power we hope to invite are Hermanas Unidas, our school psychologist Francesca Campbell, Dianne Faulk, the first African-American woman to be elected to the Inglewood City Council, and many more. Throughout the two day retreat, we want to have various workshops and mingling opportunities in order to spark that inner leader that is in every woman at our school. We also hope to create a long lasting relationship with these women already in high places of power in order to open up opportunities and mentorship.

Process
Due to the Latino background most at the school come from, the ideals of machismo are the ones that many of us grow up hearing. Though we love and celebrate our culture, we acknowledge that the values it places on women are outdated, immoral, and unjust. We understand that we cannot change this fact, yet we will work to change how we feel about them. An immediate result we aim to see is more women, from all grades, feeling more safe and comfortable with each other within the school bounds. Those who attend our retreat and our weekly meetings will feel more seen and also more knowledgeable on topics that will solve many issues that exist within us. The women in the group now will work actively to promote love within themselves and others. With this, we also hope to encourage more girls to then join MCÁ the following year and further promote our mission and make “girls support girls” a reality.
Our long term impact will be shown when many more of our clubs on campus are run by women at our school and have leadership roles within our community. By inviting powerful women in leadership roles to our retreat, we hope to establish a networking system in which women at our school are then encouraged to seek internships or jobs in those fields or with those women. We hope that incoming students at our school come in with the sense that

Mission stament
Through a documentary that gives an insight into the lives of women with experiences with immigration in our community, and by volunteering to support immigrant communities in the LA area, our team will uplift the voices of immigrant women in our community, engage the hearts and minds of people from all backgrounds in and around our community, and do all of this with the goal of shaping LA into an environment that empowers women and values the strength, power, and labor of immigrant women. A collection of interviews and testimonies from women in our community will encourage others to participate and become active in our project. By screening our evocative documentary, we hope to arouse a sense of understanding and knowledge within the people in our community, helping them become aware of the immense value women have always had within them. We also plan to build in testimonies of our own experiences exploring and engaging with the immigrant rights landscape in LA (by volunteering at events, attending marches, registering voters in and around our school, hosting monthly informational events at our school, etc.) to build interest and engagement within our small Lennox community that will hopefully bring our community members into the larger LA community.
In the school community we are trying to engage our students through social media during this COVID-19 pandemic. We are communicating through social media about ways we can stay safe and to alleviate our concerns. Our school community is having group meetings through Google Classroom with their clubs and completing their assigned school work. During these weeks, the school community has created an advisory class that engages students to communicate with each other through social media. If we cannot engage people to communicate through social media, then we will be unable to check up on people’s mental health and improve their negative feelings during this pandemic.
