A Girls Build LA Team at Ánimo Leadership Charter High School!
OUR MISSION
We are Mujeres con Ánimo. A team of 9 Latina women from Animo Leadership High School ranging from 10-12th grade. We are located in Inglewood,California and are considered in the top 2% of schools in the nation according to US News. Mujeres con Ánimo was started in 2017 but unfortunately took a pause because of COVID. This year, we have decided to reboot our club with a new focus. We seek to create a bonding experience for women in our immediate community in hopes to encourage more of them to take on leadership roles in and out of our community.
Many of us are unable to accept who we are as powerful Latina women. We change who we are and how we appear to others to fit in and quiet ourselves. Our struggles and feelings are often shushed and invalidated. We believe all women should have a voice and have the ability to be powerful leaders. We want to push the motto “girls support girls” and make it an actual reality. Using the medium of documentary film making, we seek to blanket our audience in the voices and the stories of women who are so often dismissed, and in doing so, contribute to building a platform for recognition that they so deeply deserve.
